Update: This release is now available for pre-order! See below for details.
After about a year in the making it is of great excitement to announce the upcoming release of this compilation called “And You Will Find Them In The Basement” on Desire Records. This eight track compilation is a communal effort of a small group of London and UK-based synth/wave groups that at some point decided that releasing a compilation would be a good way to document their emerging scene. A number of meetings in East London pubs and through back and forth communications allowed all involved to hammer out the details on how this record could be released with Desire eventually taking interest.
The title itself refers to the small clubs in East London where these artists have been putting on shows and sharing stages together at a number of events over the last few years. Tracklisting is as follows:
LEBANON HANOVER “Cadaverously Quaint” LINEA ASPERA “Attica” MILD PERIL “Alpha Zone” TEAM PI$$ “Low” GERTRUD STEIN “U Bahn” N?I KABÁT “I Corrode” SOFT RIOT “Cinema Eyes” A TERRIBLE SPLENDOUR “Garçon Dans Le Vent”
The cover artwork is a silk-screen print by Jonas Ranson of N?i Kabát with the layout and typesetting by JJD of Soft Riot.
“And You Will Find Them In The Basement” is out March 2013 on Desire Records and is available for pre-order now:
Closing up what was quite a busy year for SOFT RIOT, here’s a holiday offering: a free download of “Seeds of Time (Soft Riot’s Shatter Version)” by Női Kabat! This track was originally released on their now sold out cassette single “I Corrode/Seeds of Time”. Some of these tracks may likely appear on a more official release next year.
Throughout 2012 there have been Soft Riot “versions” of tracks for various friends and artists including Window Twins, Lebanon Hanover, Babe Rainbow and more. All of these tracks are all still available as free downloads.
Thanks for your support in the year 2012. There will possibly be one final “captain’s log” for 2012 to ring in the new year of 2013.
Now soundly back in London from a grand week in the Black Forest and the Alps, Much love and thanks go out to great friends from Lebanon Hanover for taking me along, as well as Michael Städler of Cold Kings and all of the promoters and hosts in the cities we played for the amazing hospitality. Will be back in 2013 or so it goes…
In the meantime, here’s a FREE compilation from Other Voices Records for download. Features the Soft Riot track “Write Yourself Into The Void” from the forthcoming album FICTION PREDICTION on Other Voices/Volar Records in early 2013. Also features tracks from Agent Side Grinder, Stress, Cinemascope, Parade Ground and more…
Almost five months later since the incredibly memorable and amazing Soft Riot/N?i Kabát “Europhoria” tour across Europe in June, time for few sessions was found to hunker down and sort through a few hours of rambling, incoherent footage to splice together this 14 minute “mini-film” about the experience. It contains segments of the live performances in Berlin, Budapest, Prague and Vienna as well as well as incidental footage from the road. Incidental music provided by our friends in Gertrud Stein, Team Pi$$, Mild Peril, Linea Aspera, Guyer’s Connection, A Terrible Splendour and Lebanon Hanover. Thanks to all those involved and do share…

Here’s peek at the cover for the upcoming album Fiction Prediction. This is proudly being released on the Other Voices label, responsible for some pretty stellar output by artists such as Eleven Pond, Tobias Bernstrup, Attrition, The Silicon Scientist and more. Check out the Other Voices website at www.othervoicesrecords.com. This will be out in LP/CD/Cassette and digital format. Note that the tracklisting may differ from the various formats it’s slated to be released on. Previews of tracks are in the works and ordering information should be announced a bit later this fall.
A few extras are to be provided with the release as digital only extras: including some extended mixes of a couple of tracks for those looking to squeeze a little extra juice out of the tracks when playing them in a more lively environment; such as a club, a celebration, or an exorcism in one’s own home.
This will follow shortly after the No Longer Stranger re-release (vinyl/digital) on Volar Records at the tail end of this year.
In the LIVE EVENTS section information on shows with LEBANON HANOVER can be found. Cities confirmed are Freiburg (DE), Zürich (CH), Luzern (CH) and St. Gallen (CH).
